Eshwar S Prasad in his book The Future of Money gives us the tools to grasp how money will come to be used and viewed in the years to come, and explains in detail the social, political and economic ramifications it will have. He does this while harnessing multiple case studies of countries that have proved to be early leaders in adopting the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to support his claims.

The book is split into four parts. The first part is a bit of a warm-up for people to get into the groove. The second part focuses on the rise of fintechs and dissects the underlying technology behind cryptocurrencies. He then continues to make the case for CBDCs while forecasting their rising importance in the third part and finally, in the last part, he zooms out and gives the reader an insight into the implications that these changes will have in the larger context in terms of fiscal policy.
