Simon Lindgren, the author of the book under review is Professor of Sociology at Umeå University in Sweden. The book is his research on the relationship between digital media and society with a particular focus on politics and power relations—a critical aspect of modern society which has also been under a lot of scrutiny globally in the last couple of years.
As someone who indulges in this ecosystem, I was intrigued by his work since Lindgren is also the director of an interdisciplinary academic research centre studying the social dimensions of digital technology. But as it happens with any book wish-list, I didn’t get to the book and had forgotten about it till a second edition of the book arrived. Not to miss it this time around, I finally acquired a copy and finished it before relegating it to the ‘reference’ section of my bookshelf.
That categorization is important.
