India is a country blessed with rich biodiversity. It also is a nation developing at a great pace, locking horns with many other powerful global economies. But we need to keep in mind that development too, comes at a price. If development is not holistic and just anthropocentric, it doesn’t take long for the environment to collapse on itself. Unfortunately, most of the world is facing these after-effects of anthropocentric development. Many forests and natural habitats of the forest dwellers, animals and creatures are being decimated and the ecosystems there are crumbling, as a result.

While most people are haplessly looking at these events, there are a few individuals, organizations and societies trying their best to put a stop to them. The book Log aur Vanya Jeevan is a compilation of success stories of such efforts. This is the Hindi translation of the book People and Wildlife published by Kalpavriksh, Pune. It consists of ten success stories of biodiversity conservation efforts, from across India.
