It’s been a while since I have been exploring alternative forms of companionship and family. The main intention behind this exploration is to navigate the potential that these two words carry. And then Reva and Prisha’s family grabbed my attention. Reva and Prisha is a slice of a life book woven around the world of the twins with their two mothers Runu and Pritam, narrated with fun and love by Shals Mahajan.
Each chapter takes us through the daily conversations in the Sahil family–their discussion around food at the dinner table, experiments with make-up or their insightful discussion about the religion they belong to! It was heartening to read through the curious questions, confusions of the twins and more than that their mothers’—‘Amma’ and ‘Momma’—efforts to engage with them with a pinch of humour and kindness.
