Stories are fragments of a social reality, embossed with words and characters, and fragrant with the hues of ever-churning human emotions. Imayam aptly calls them ‘word-pictures’, for reading a story is like pondering over a freeze-frame, a canvas, bound by time and space, limited in its characters, with an outline that defines yet defies what is being shown and seen. A photograph is not as silent as it seems.
