Ghar
Mera koi hai nahin
Ghar mujhe chaahiye:
Ghar ke bheetar prakash ho
Is ki mujhe chintaa nahin hai;
Prakash ke Ghere ke bheetar mera
ghar ho —
Isi ki mujhe talaash hai.
Highlighting this constant search for an eternally elusive dwelling point, Ajneya’s latest collection of poetry, Aisa Koi Ghar Aapne Dekha Hai, is a milestone in the evolution of Ajneya’s poetic consciousness. Had ‘Ajneya lived to publish another volume of poetry he would certainly have entered a new phase of creativity.
I am open from all sides
like a forest, and closed within as
well
I cannot be contained in words
I am the metre of Silence…
says this apostle of a very eloquent silence, the same one who had given us ‘I weave the threads of silence’ {Main Sannatta Bunta Hoon) in poetry and the delightful essay ‘Chup ki Dahaar’ (The Roar Of Silence) in prose. The poet has often made it clear that words have never sufficed to contain him.
