A touching tale about a little girl and her yaks, Tenzin’s Yaks is a story set in mountainous Ladakh. The story gives glimpses into life in such tough terrain. Young readers will undoubtedly come up with multiple questions about the region, animals, and lifestyle that come alive within the pages of the book.
The story was first published in Hindi as Tenzin ke Yak and won the first prize in the read-aloud books category in a competition organized by the Children’s Book Trust. While the English translation does have a vernacular flavour about it, the superbly drawn illustrations soon draw you into the story, so comprehension is not affected in the least.
