The Wall and Other Poems is Jaydeep Sarangi’s fourth book of poetry and every bit as engaging, exciting and challenging as the previous collections, From Dulong To Beas, Silent Days, A Door Somewhere?
The Wall is probably more influenced by Jaydeep’s translation work of dalit literature than in the previous volumes. This work has inspired him and fuelled the ‘fire in his belly’ to produce the poems in this book. In his own words, ‘. . . for me writing poetry is planting saplings for tomorrow’.
