The edited volume under review is an effort to introduce China and India in the foreground of their history and culture as they impact the present context of competition and cooperation between the two countries. To quote from the Introduction, ‘The book encompasses history, culture, political relations, economic perspectives and issues concerning both the countries. In order to have an in-depth understanding of the differences from various perspectives, the contribution of socio-cultural factors and the role of political and strategic relationships are incorporated. We have adopted a holistic approach in selecting the articles. The topics covered in the book are not confined to any specific area of research, rather the topics range from historical and cultural factors to the factors related to international relations and the current business strategies adopted by these two countries’ (p. xxi). The volume is divided into two parts, one, History, Culture and International Relations, and two, Economy and Business: Comparative Focus.
