The main character of this very amazing and exhilarating book who pulls you inside and traps you and won’t ever let you put it down is Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is a very sharp and amazing detective who solves crime with ease with his partner Watson. You can describe Sherlock as the best crime fighter, curse of all criminals and a person who is always on the side of justice.
This is a single book packed with 25 blockbuster and amazing cases for the readers to read all in one book! Each story always starts in the study of Sherlock and ends either in a police station or with Sherlock tying a criminal’s hands behind his back. The stories are mostly set in the 20th century.
I think Sherlock and I are very different people in terms of personality. I for one am a very carefree take-it-light kind of person whereas he is kind of very serious and takes nothing lightly. This book, I think, is a very challenging one. When I read two of the stories from the beginning I couldn’t solve even one of them and I was aghast. But after reading a few of them I could solve the majority of the cases. I began to solve them once I read the solution of the first two mysteries. My way of thinking changed which helped a lot in daily life.
I am not sure if it is a great idea to give the solutions, because sometimes, I felt like turning the pages till I found the solution. Sometimes, I felt that the solution is not connected to the mystery.
Stewart Ross describes the 25 stories as the adventures of Dr Watson and Sherlock. These stories are actually based on the case files prepared by Watson about his and Sherlock’s adventures. I think it would be good if the author had written that Watson is reading the case files of Sherlock’s past cases to the author which in turn the author is writing for us to read.
There are not many illustrations in the book compared to the size of the book.
