Minorities in Pakistan, published by Pakistan Publications, Karachi, was the first book I read on religious minorities in Pakistan before Bangladesh was created.

The book begins with the words of Mahomed Ali Jinnah’s (spelt in a rather strange way) most significant part of the speech to the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947: ‘You are free; you are free to go to your temples; you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan.
