Heroic poetry generally refers to poetry pertaining to the exploits of kings and noblemen of yesteryears. Composed and sung by bards in the king’s employment, this poetry found a ready audience in court circles amidst attending nobility. Later day academic studies have earned it the epithet of ‘epic poetry’, mainly on account of the vast panoramas that the bard contextualizes through song and verse.
