Language is not only a means of exchange of ideas, it is one of the most reliable mediums of expression. It is also an importance means for the development and social-cultural identity of a society. Without language, humans are incomplete and disjunct from their traditions. Hence, instead of imposing any language on students, in particular, or on people in general, they should be given the opportunity to select the language of their choice for instructional purposes.
The National Education Policy (NEP 2020) has advocated that as far as possible, the medium of education till at least grade 5 and at most till grade 8 should be the local/regional or home language of the student.
