The Company of Violent Men by journalist Siddharthya Roy is a series of stories that coalesce into a narrative of how citizens in the faultlines of conflict are trapped in a Kafkaesque loop of survival and incarceration. By engaging with the ordeals of the agents caught between these cycles of brutality and violence, Roy attempts to un-trope the fragility of these violent men and women.
In each of the sixteen chapters, a narrative combining a rich set of experiences with his interlocutors, Roy’s observations, and his arguments from the shadowy world of terrorists, militants, refugees, and clandestine agents in conflict zones of the Indian subcontinent between 2016 and 2023 is to be found.
