The Tara Series by Annie Besant is an easy read for children. The stories are simple and entertaining. Tara’s Day Out is the simplest of the four books under review here and meant for children who are in 4-5 age group. The other three would be ideal for children of the 6-8 age group. All the stories revolve around Tara and her brothers Rishi and Romil. The stereotypes regarding boys and girls have been gently challenged in each of the stories. Tara’s brother Romil loves cooking and depends on Tara to be the taster. Rishi is a voracious reader and is the quiet intellectual, while Tara is a bubbly, out going girl.
